Abstract Background Intra-operative purulent peritoneal fluid aspirate for microscopy, culture and sensitivity during appendicectomy is routinely practiced aiding post-operative management of patients if the get unwell requiring a change prescribed pre-operative antibiotics. As at time this audit, there was no guideline in NHS regarding routine appendicectomy. This necessitated need to carry out audit. Aim To evaluate is/ are benefit(s) from results Method retrospective review medical records with operation notes all who had that were aspirated microscopy last 3 years (May 2019 April 2022). The data analysed using SPSS version 22. Results There 127 73 (57.5%) results. Seventy-one (71.2%) positive result while growth 28.8% remaining patients.
